What do I get on each tour?

  • All transport to and from the tours (including pick up and drop off at accommodation if you are staying locally)
  • Fully serviced front suspension mountain bike
  • Helmet
  • Delicious snacks on Akatarawa tours
  • Qualified and experienced guides
  • A heap of fun and an amazing experience

What do I need to bring, and what is provided for me?

You will need to bring sensible and comfortable clothes that you can ride a bike in, and that you expect will get muddy and/or dusty. Lycra shorts, baggy shorts, or something comfortable that won’t get tangled up in the pedals and chain (don’t wear jeans or wide track pants). You will need to dress for an active day, and be prepared to keep dry and warm if the weather turns. It is best to layer your clothing, with a base thermal layer to insulate and draw moisture from your body, a mid layer for warmth, and a protective outer layer if it’s needed.

Sneakers/sports shoes/trainers/spds will do the trick for your feet.

Do I need to have experience mountain biking?

Some experience mountain biking is required for most of the tours, but our guides are happy to setup a tour aimed at first timers. There are heaps of tour options and each one is marked with the expected level of experience and skill required. Something for everyone!

What if the weather is bad?

This is mountain biking baby… tours run rain or shine. But sometimes the weather can get too extreme… so if it does, the tour will be postponed until another time that suits you and the guide.

Where do I get picked up?

We’ll pick you up at your accommodation, or from a point that is most convenient for you. This will be arranged at the time of booking.

What will the group size be?

The minimum of all tours is 2 people, and the maximum group size is 10 for coastal tours, and 6 for any of the advanced and intermediate tours in the Akatawaras, and heli-rides.

Can I bring my own bike and helmet?

Sure can! The only thing we will do is make sure that your equipment is up to the task, and if not we may require you take one of ours.

What type of pedals do you have?

You can choose from flat (platform) pedals or SPD clips or you can even bring your own. We don’t provide shoes/cleats so please bring your own if it’s your preference.
