About Us

Adventure Kapiti guides have been riding the beautiful Kapiti Coast for over 15 years. It all started with borrowed bikes riding through Queen Elizabeth Park, then progressed into the Akatawaras with a trip around the infamous Karapoti course. Night rides are a regular feature, encountering Kereru, Morepork, Pukeko , deer, pigs, goats, possums and many more.

We enjoy the odd cross country race but single big lap adventures are the best. As guides, we will take you through the history & beginner/intermediate tracks of Queen Elizabeth Park, intermediate 4X4 tracks and the more advanced remote single track of the Akatarawas. It is a totally unforgettable experience with unique tracks and beautiful scenery. We manage all the risk (fully qualified first aid, communications), and cater to and deliver on rider expectations (access skill/fitness levels). A love of baking also ensures the tastiest trail-side snacks in the Southern Hemisphere.

Come to us and experience the best riding in this stunning part of the country.

Meet the Team

Brett Irving

166Brett’s love of mountain biking and living in Kapiti, an enviroment with endless opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, prompted Brett to establish a business that would enable him to share these experiences with others. Brett guarantees a great experience filled with fun, encouragement and safety for all levels of riding ability. With weekly Coastal Crew rides, backcountry overnighters, riding with student groups, cross country racing and motorbikes for the road, for Brett it’s all about two wheels.

Lisa Irving

lisaThe one thing that sets Lisa apart from anyone else are those calves. More of a mountain runner than biker, she will be out there all day… and night if required. She has even been known to carry other people’s packs when the tracks got the better of them. With events like The Goat, The Southern Crossing, Muka-Muka Munta, Jumbo-Holdsworth and numerous Xterra events under her belt, she’s a real asset to have with you in the wilderness. A real animal lover ( 10 years at Wellpet Veterinary Clinic ), who will identify any animals/birds that are encountered in the bush. A stint working for the Mt. Cook Helicopter Line means she knows the safe way around a chopper too.

All guides for Adventure Kapiti have current first aid certification. Adventure Kapiti has been granted concessions for Queen Elizabeth Park and the Akatarawa Forest Park by the Greater Wellington Regional Council.
